Welcome to Gonzaga Preparatory and Primary School

We are delighted to welcome you to Gonzaga Preparatory and Primary School, a beacon of Jesuit education in Kigogo, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Since our establishment in 2008, Gonzaga has been committed to providing a transformative education grounded in the Ignatian tradition, nurturing young minds to become compassionate, competent, and committed individuals dedicated to love and service.

At Gonzaga, our mission is to educate young people to become men and women for others, fostering a spirit of responsibility, integrity, and a deep commitment to the common good. Inspired by our patron saint, St. Aloysius Gonzaga, we encourage our students to seek God in all things and respond to His call through love and service. This is reflected in our motto: Education for Love and Service, which serves as the guiding principle in every aspect of school life.

Our vision is to seek the greater glory of God by striving for excellence in all things. We aim to develop students who are intellectually curious, spiritually grounded, and socially responsible. Every student is encouraged to pursue ‘the more’ (‘Magis’), pushing beyond self-imposed limits to achieve their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.

Founded through the collaboration of the Jesuit Fathers, the Doherty family, and the Our Lady Queen of Peace Foundation, Inc. Gonzaga was built to address the educational needs of orphans and disadvantaged children in Mabibo and surrounding neighborhoods. Today, we continue this mission by offering equal opportunities to all children, regardless of background, while maintaining academic excellence and a vibrant, inclusive community.

Our diverse team of teachers and staff from East and Central Africa, South Africa, Europe, and America brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, enriching the academic and cultural environment of our school. Volunteers from the United States and our partnership with St. Lawrence of England further strengthen our global connections, fostering mutual relationships and broadening our students’ horizons.

Beyond academics, Gonzaga offers a rich array of extracurricular activities that promote holistic development from sports and fitness programs to community service initiatives, student clubs, and spiritual retreats. Our commitment to environmental education and sustainable practices ensures that our students not only excel in their studies but also become responsible stewards of God’s creation.
