Gonzaga Celebrates 15th Anniversary with Joyful Festivities
Gonzaga Preparatory and Primary School marked its 15th anniversary with a grand celebration filled with gratitude, joy, and a reaffirmation of its mission to provide quality Jesuit education. The event, held on the school’s campus in Kigogo, Dar es Salaam, brought together students, staff, alumni, parents, and distinguished guests for a day of reflection and celebration.

The festivities began with a solemn thanksgiving mass, presided over by a special guest, His Eminence Most Reverend Archbishop Marek Solczynski, the Apostolic Nuncio to Tanzania. The mass emphasized the school’s commitment to faith-based education and gratitude for the blessings and growth experienced over the past 15 years.
Following the mass, attendees enjoyed student performances, including traditional dances, choir presentations, and theatrical performances highlighting the school’s rich history and values. The school’s scouts and band also showcased their talents, adding to the lively atmosphere of the celebration.
In his keynote address, Scholastic Humphrey Maganga, S.J., the current director of Gonzaga, praised the dedication of teachers, students, and the entire school community for upholding the values of Jesuit education. “For 15 years, Gonzaga has shaped young minds to become ‘men and women for others.’ We celebrate not just our past but also the bright future ahead,” he remarked.

Several distinguished guests attended the event, including representatives from the Jesuit Eastern Africa Province, local government officials, and international partners such as St. Lawrence of England and the Our Lady Queen of Peace Foundation, Inc. Canada. Many guests commended the school for its academic excellence, holistic education, and commitment to social responsibility.
Alumni also played a significant role in the celebration, sharing their success stories and reflecting on the impact of their formative years at Gonzaga. One notable alumnus, now a medical student, credited the school for instilling in him the values of discipline and service.
Looking ahead, Gonzaga plans to expand its digital education initiatives, strengthen international collaborations, and continue fostering academic and moral excellence among its students.
As the celebration concluded, the school’s community renewed its commitment to its motto: Education for Love and Service, ensuring that Gonzaga Preparatory and Primary School remains a beacon of Jesuit education in Tanzania for generations to come.
